Configuring Customer Quotes

Overview

The Customer Quote feature allows a transaction to be saved at the point-of-sale that can be recalled and completed at a later date.  The recalled Quote can then be edited and saved again or completed.

This Technical Release will explain the steps needed to configure Customer Quotes in the TallySales Management System.

 

 

 

Configuring the Company

  1. From the Enterprise Tab of TallyExplorer, navigate to the Company Configuration tab.
  2. Select the Uses Preferences button.
  3. Update the Quotes value to Yes.
  4. Select Save.

    TallyExplorer will need to be closed and reopened prior to the remaining Customer Quote settings becoming available.

 

 

 

Configuring the Register Profile

Show list of Open Quotes

This optional setting of the Register Profile will provide the cashier with a listing of all open Customer Quotes for all customers within the Open Slip panel of the Cash Register.

  1. From the Enterprise Tab of TallyExplorer, select the Register Profile button (The Register Profile window opens).
  2. Expand the tree view and select the Register Profile to configure.
  3. Select Show list of open Quotes within the Open Slip Options section of the General Tab.
  4. From the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), Select Save.

Repeat the above process for all desired Register Profiles.

Serialized Inventory Prompt Me Later

This optional setting of the Register Profile will provide the cashier with the ability to add a Serialized product to a quote without specifying a Serial Number.  The Serial Number will be required during the completion of the Quote.

  1. From the Enterprise Tab of TallyExplorer, select the Register Profile button (The Register Profile window opens).
  2. Expand the tree view and select the Register Profile to configure.
  3. Select the Addtional tab.
  4. Select Allow 'Prompt me Later' on serialized inventory within the Inventory Options of the Additional Settings section.
  5. From the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), Select Save.

Repeat the above process for all desired Register Profiles.

 

Create Quote Button

This optional setting of the Register Profile will allow a Create Quote button to be added to the Product and/or Function Panels of the Cash Register.

  1. From the Enterprise Tab of TallyExplorer, select the Register Profile button (The Register Profile window opens).
  2. Expand the tree view and select the Register Profile to configure.
  3. Select the Button Setup tab.
  4. Change the dropdown to Create a Quote for the the desired function or Product button.

    If all function buttons are not defined, the Cash Register will use a default button layout ignoring any buttons that may have been defined.

  5. From the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), Select Save.

Repeat the above process for all desired Register Profiles.

Configuring the Receipt Profile

The Receipt Profile contains the configuration and layout of all receipts printed by the TallySales Cash Register.

  1. From the Enterprise Tab of TallyExplorer, select the Receipt Profile Button (The Receipt Profile window opens).
  2. Expand the tree view and Select the Receipt Profile to configure.
  3. Modify the Send to Receipt Printer options for the Quote Sales Slip Type.

    Send to Receipt Printer can be configured with the following settings:

    • Yes – A paper receipt will always be printed.
    • No – A paper receipt will never be printed.
    • Prompt – The cashier will be prompted to print the paper receipt.
  4. Select the Receipt Format tab.
  5. Define a Receipt Footer for the Quote within the Receipt Footer section.
  6. From the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), select Save.

Repeat the above process for all desired Receipt Profiles.

Defining Customer Quotes Security Group Rights

  1. From the Human Resources Tab of TallyExplorer, Select Group Rights.
  2. Select the Register Security Group that will be given Quote security permissions.
  3. Navigate to the Quotes section of the Tree.
  4. Edit any Quotes Security Rights.
  5. Once all permissions are set, select Save.
  6. Select Exit.

Repeat the above process for all desired security groups.

All Open Registers must be backdoor closed and reopened to load the Quote configuration.  Please see the Backdoor Close How-to Article for more information.
