Exporting/Importing a Report Definition

From time to time, Technical Support may ask for a report to be exported and sent to TallySoft for troubleshooting purposes.  Likewise a Custom Report may be purchased from TallySoft that would need to be imported into the TallyReports Reports Explorer.

Step-by-step guide

Exporting a Report to an XML Document

  1. Open the TallyReports Report Explorer.
  2. Highlight the report to be exported within the tree view.
  3. From the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), Select Edit » Edit Report (The Report Designer will open).
  4. From the Menu on the Report Designer, Select Export (The Save As window will appear).
  5. Navigate to the desired Location and enter a Name for the Export File.
  6. Select Save.
  7. Close the Report Designer.

Importing a Report XML Document

  1. Open the TallyReports Report Explorer.
  2. Highlight the desired location of the report within Reports Explorer tree view.
  3. From the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT), Select Import (The Report Wizard will open to the Identify Import page).
  4. Ensure the TallySales Report Import Type is selected.
  5. Select the Report XML Document to be imported.
  6. Select Next (The Report Information page will appear).
  7. Optional: Edit the Report Information as needed

NOTE: The Title dictates both how the report is listed in the Reports Explorer as well as how the Report file is saved.  If the report being imported already exists in Reports Explorer and the Title is not updated, the Original Report file will be overwritten.

  8. Select Finish.
